Dear Parents and Caregivers The school holidays have been extended until the 17th of July. When we return from holidays on the 20th of July it is most likely to be to remote and flexible learning. We will confirm this by close of Business 16th of July IF YOU CAN STAY AT HOME YOU MUST REMAIN AT HOME If you are an essential worker (You have a letter from your employer that you work cannot be done at home) you will need to register your child’s application to attend using this form and attach the letter from your employer. This will be needed to be done ASAP to ensure we have adequate supervision arrangements. There are a number of families who have registered with us from the previous remote and flexible learning period. These registrations remain in place and do not have to be re submitted. If you have been previously registered you would have already been contacted by the school to outline provisions for care and supervision made for your child in the week beginning the 13th. ALL SCHOOL GATES WILL BE LOCKED AND STUDENTS MUST ENTER VIA THE FRONT OFFICE. I know you will all be anxious and it wasn’t easy the last time we all did this, however we will get through this together. Our phones had a meltdown first week of last term as we tried to answer everyone’s questions. So please wherever you can email the school roxburgh.homestead.ps@education.vic.gov.au as we should be able to get to your requests quicker. We may have to use our mobiles to contact you so if you get a call from a private number it will most likely be us trying to make contact. I know we don’t like to answer numbers that show up as private but please answer, it will help save a lot of time for you and for us. I hope you are all safe and well. We are thinking of you all. Kind regardsTeresa StonePrincipal Roxburgh Homestead PS

To do this we have high expectations for all of our learners. Together we have created a culture that supports resilience and persistence in the pursuit of our individual and collective goals. This connects students to prior learning and builds learning confidence for growth and extension. Our 21st Century Design teaching and learning initiative ensures our students are also immersed in STEM ,the Arts, Physical education and wellbeing programs to support deep thinking and problem solving. Our school wide approach to growing active, informed and healthy children is based on building positive behaviour. We partner with our students and families to build strength of mind and character. Our values of “Respect, Honesty, Pride and Success are embedded in the classroom in the grounds and online and form the expectations of how we learn together academically and socially. It is vital that we build an inclusive mindset and environment where all children can participate, make mistakes and thrive. We are proud of our village at RHPS and we look forward to connecting and partnering with our families and students in learning and life.
Recently we have been made aware of a number of incidents resulting from our students’ use of social media outside of school hours. The impact from this is affecting student interactions at school and the emotional and social well- being of many students. This has a direct impact on their learning. The majority of social media sites, such as Snap Chat, Kik, Instagram, Facebook and Lively require users to be at least 13 years plus. The Office of the Children’s Safety Commissioner has a wealth of resources to support parents in keeping on top of their children’s technology use. While children may seem tech savvy they still the watchful guidance of parents and guardians to make sure their online experience is positive and safe.
