A message from a parent and your school council president.
I have served on the School Council for the past 4 years, and bring to the role my extensive work history in sales and accounts. My daughter Katelyn is currently in grade 6 at Roxburgh Homestead, and during her time at the school I have enjoyed being an active member of the school community- including assisting with fundraising efforts, such the Mothers & Father’s day stalls. I consider myself very approachable, and would like to continue being an advocate for the wider parent community, bringing any issues and concerns you may have to the School Council. I am very passionate about education and having rich learning opportunities available to all students; the work our school has been doing in the past 4 years towards 21st Century learning is moving towards this. It would be my privilege to continue serving in this role.
We do not only meet twice a term for a get together. School Council is a way for us to ensure important measures are met. For example, student engagement and well-being, the continual improvement of our students learning via student outcome data, our fundraising committee which provides updates on where raised funds are directed to, in order to support school improvement programs and ensuring all school facilities are well maintained or updated when required.
School council is an amazing experience that all parents should give serious thought to. It is a very small commitment time wise and it can be so very rewarding.
As a parent, we are welcomed and encouraged to participate in many aspects of our children’s learning. Be it either through classroom help or the many parent forums held regularly at our school. So please come along and see what we have to offer!
Be a part of your child’s learning and reap the personal rewards for doing so.
