Students will be exposed to more challenging texts to extend their thinking and ability to connect with unfamiliar topics. In spelling, students will build on their vocabulary through our spelling program ‘Words Their Way,’ anchor charts and topic/class word walls. Ongoing questioning strategies will be a focus throughout the reading of the text and comprehension. In writing, students will continue to explore different text types such as information reports, narratives, persuasive and procedural texts. In term 2, we will be focusing on writing. Students will be given opportunities to build their confidence and skills in speaking and listening through whole and small group activities.

When possible, parents and carers are encouraged to read with students and use questions prompts and tips found in the Home Reading books.
